Hello, Amazing Subscribers... all THIRTY-ONE of you delightful beings!!
I’m so glad to be invited to your inbox!!! If you are new to Repurposed Kate, WELCOME! If you’ve been with me for a while, WELCOME BACK! I hope this email finds you well as week #7 of 2024 comes to a close.
What’s This About?
If you have been with me from the beginning of my Substack journey, you know that a short list of intentions created monumental changes for me in 2023 and inspired me to start Repurposed Kate. The ultimate goal for 2024 is to design a life (with limited resources) in which I am happy, motivated, and self-sufficient. If I can do that at 51 years old, anyone can do it. Thank you for subscribing and holding me accountable for living my intentions and sharing my results in real-time.
Last Week's Intentions and Results
Here are a few of my achievements and setbacks from last week:
1. Work on My…
It’s Calving Season!
I love calving season! Sweet, precious. little baby cows speed-racing around with their little tails in the air like they have a clue what they are doing… They don’t. They don’t have the slightest clue. Sweet, little dumdums.
The nurse cows have all had their babies. THREE baby bulls! No heifers this time. The sixth thumbnail isn’t just a pic of the ground. (lol) The last little bull should be in that pic. He was born Friday and doesn’t have a name yet. Do you have a suggestion?

The big herd of Red cows is off to a slow start. They only have one calf as of last night. Maybe there will be a bunch more by the time I check them this morning.
Of the three sets of Black cows, only one set is calving, but they started almost two months ago. The last time I counted (about five days ago), there were 59 calves from the 80 cows. They should be finished pretty soon.
The two other Black sets are scheduled to have their babies in sync with the Reds. It’s a waiting game now to see who will be next in the spotlight.
Pay no attention to our voices… I haven’t had time to edit any of the videos.

We Might Need to Call Maury…

Sniffin’ Bulls
Little Buddy, Jr. was born two months before his brother-cousins. Without other calves to play with, he was bound to get curious about me sooner or later. This is his first attempt at investigating me.
He thought he was being stealthy the second time.
Then he got his brother-cousin to try it out, too.
WARNING!!! You might need Dramamine to watch this one.
Last but not least: This is Lil’ Bit, aka Rodeo Bull. He was one of my bottle babies last year. His momma stopped producing milk for him, so we kept them together and moved them to the nursery. He liked to run and buck!
So Much Responsibility… Keeping Calves Safe
We have been so busy the past couple of weeks getting ready for these sweet guys to get here, but there’s never enough time to get everything done, especially regarding predator deterrents. Unfortunately, the significant coyote problem we have been expecting has turned out to be more formidable than anticipated. We may have to take turns watching over the herd for a little while. We’ll know more after our first check-ins this morning.
Intentions
If you have guessed that I have nothing to report for last week’s intentions, that would be a winning guess. Coyote management has absorbed every spare minute of my day this week. I don’t expect any relief from that in at least the next week. If I do get caught up before that, I’ll send a bonus update. If not, I’ll send more baby cow pics and videos. Everyone loves baby cows.
I put my heart into these intentions. Some were a success, others a learning experience. Each experience, success or failure, is an opportunity to grow.
This Week's Intentions
Looking ahead, I'm setting up new intentions, leaning in on practical, daily living needs:
1. Keep Babies Safe From Coyotes
I think that’s self-explanatory.
2. Cut My Hair
I might have to handle this one myself. I certainly don’t have time to make an appointment anywhere. Wish me luck!
I am committed to these intentions and will put all my effort into achieving them.
Who I’m Reading on Substack
I had an unspoken intention of chasing “Codependency” down the Substack rabbit hole sometime during the week, but I never got there. If you have any favorite publications in this niche, please share them. I’ll add them to my reading list!
Your Turn
I would love to hear about your intentions and how you're progressing. Please share your thoughts, your wins, and your lessons in the comments. Let's grow together and support each other. We’re all on this journey of growth and self-improvement together.
Thank you for being a part of my journey and for walking this path with me. Remember, it's not about perfection; it's about progress. See you next week with more updates and reflections.
Stay Motivated,
Kati Kate Katherine

Remember, your journey is unique, and your story is important. Keep setting intentions, keep striving, and keep growing.
Aww! “He was born Friday and doesn’t have a name yet. Do you have a suggestion?” Ok he looks like a Buddy! So cute and thank you for sharing this! I had a feeling you were busy with this. My intention is to get out of my comfort zone as I’m joining local networking groups and I have to get out there and meet people *gulp*
You should post a note with a calf pic and the post link so I can restack it for you
