One of my main intentions and practices right now is to respond from a spacious place rather than a reactive one (specifically when someone has triggered me). Even if the person is in the wrong or being confrontational, I place great value on my own serenity. I'd rather stay honest but soften the edges, speaking in ways that are more likely to connect than to create further division. My track record this week isn't perfect, but it's not so bad either! Of course, it's only Tuesday. :)
"It's only Tuesday." You know how strangers, or cashiers, or people you love ask some form of "how are you?" and the socially acceptable answer is "fine"? I always say "so far so good, but it's only {checks watch}"
I'm so glad you are reading RK. And thank you so much for sharing this week. See you next week? Same time, same place? I can hardly wait for your weekly report!
Thanks so much for the mention...I was away visiting family and have fallen behind on my writing and reading of the stacks.
I just finished The Untethered Soul (I think I mentioned it to you in a prior comment.) I'm starting to think the Buddhist life is the way to go. I believe it can help EVERYONE no matter what ails us...physical, emotional, addictions, relationships, abuse, etc.
Find help wherever it's offered; things like group therapy for addiction & domestic abuse and financial & debt counseling. Drugs (legal or otherwise) will always keep you a prisoner. The path to freedom is never easy but always worth it. Stay strong!
In my early recovery, I read two things: #1 The New Testament #2 ANYTHING I could get my hands on about Buddhism or The Way. I read some theories that when Jesus disappeared from the sacred texts, he was traveling with Buddhist monks... When I say I read ANYTHING, I mean it.
Releasing attachment to the material and embracing the one-ness of the universe is a practice we can all use more of.
I have read all your stacks and I loved every single piece. I think this is an amazing project, it will help you to reach your goals and it will inspire many other women. I can't wait to read your next pubblication! Go Kati! Brava :)
What a beautiful accountability project, Kati!
